It's interesting that Chad posted this on Saturday after Tyler Robin was apprehended and it was apparent that he was a straight, white man. While all we really know about him is that his brain was fried by memes, it's pretty clear he is not a blue-haired, antifa activist screaming that we need to seize the means of production.
There is nothing anyone to the left of MAGA can do or say to disabuse these people that we are not their enemy. They live in an alternate reality with a worldview that is ingrained into their identity.
We must do the things we have always done. Organize, protest, vote, canvass, talk to friends, file suits. The politics of persuasion are what we have on our side. They have the politics of fear and domination.
He's gotta go. The guy is a racist, a homophobe, and a bigot. Back in June he also spoke at the same meeting where Arthur Schaper of Mass Resistance (a known LGBTQ hate group) was speaking too. Our community of HB must stand for what is right on this. We cannot tolerate these behaviors and look the other way.
My husband Butch Twining and I were extremely upset by the assassination of Charlie Kirk. We learned late in the day that there was going to be a vigil honoring Iryna Zarutska and Charlie Kirk at the pier last night. Butch called me and asked me if I would like to attend. I, of course, said yes. When we first arrived it was nice to see friendly faces honoring the senseless deaths of these two individuals . We were under the impression that there would be music and prayers for these two souls whose lives were cut short by violence. Amazing Grace was playing over a boombox and the people around us were sharing stories of how Charlie had made positive impacts in their lives. Some had even worked for him at Turning Point. We were given candles and were waiting for prayers to start. Eventually, the speakers started…at first their messages was positive and then it turned into the divisive, negative BS that is in this video. I was speaking to a sweet woman next to me and we kept saying, when are we going to pray. When we realized this was turning into an over top, extremely divisive rally, we along with many attendees, left. We just wanted to honor two people who were senselessly killed in the country that we love. You posting my husband’s and my attendance at this event without all the facts is a huge part of the problem that we as a city and as a nation face. I am so tired of “brave” people posting total misinformation behind the safety of their keyboards. My husband, is the most honorable, faithful, generous person in this city. So start being responsible, check your facts, verify your sources before you post anymore of your BS!
By the way, if you look closely at the video, Butch’s lips are not moving and in fact, he has a look of confusion on his face. It took us a minute to figure out what they were saying.
