No, Jeff. Just like in our favorite series, "V," now is the time to stand up and show that we're here and we aren't going away.

In a time when our democracy feels tested and rights can feel under threat, it’s more important - NOW - than ever to celebrate Independence Day as a reminder of what we’re fighting to protect: liberty, equality and justice for all.

The Declaration of Independence isn't just words on a page. It's a set of aspirations that the Founding Fathers hoped the United States would live up to.

It galls me that ultaconservatives have attempted to co-opt patriotism and love of country. Moderates and liberals love America just as much as everyone else. Don't let ANYONE - especially these grifters - steal your love and celebration for YOUR country.

Happy Independence Day, buddy!

There is an event at LA city hall on the 4th calling to “End the Occupation”. The train goes very close. It’s a patriotic thing to do.

I was feeling like you. I don't feel very proud of our behavior as a country. But my husband commented that displaying the flag is a celebration of what this country got right and we should be proud of that. What he has trouble with is the constant flying of the flag by homeowners as that is more of an endorsement of what the country is currently doing.

So we will hang our flag on Friday. But we may also add the great bear flag of California.

Thank you for sharing yet another reason so many of us are struggling with celebrating the 4th. It’s going to be very difficult to navigate how to be a family guest at a party hosted by supporters. I don’t want him to destroy more of my personal relationships, but being silent is not an option when we are in a police state.

Unfortunately, just like the Latino voters who chose Rump because “he won’t go after my family members or the hard working ones”, law enforcement believes they are “outside” his interest. Not if they step outside of their boots and lederhosen.

New Daily Reminder: On July 3, 2025 Young Kim VOTED to cut even MORE from Medicaid ($930 billion) than she did the first time with the big, ugly bill. She is putting 159K people on Medicaid in District 40 at risk because of her disastrous vote. She is also putting those on SNAP at risk, as well as making it harder for college students at CSU Fullerton and Chapman to get student loans. She is heavily militarizing our streets with ICE agents.

Her main goal was not to help the people of CA-40; it was not to be primaried by the President. She'd rather avoid a challenge from someone more extreme than her than do what she said she would and not cut Medicaid. It's time for new leadership in our district, not beholden to a president who just wants tax cuts for the richest people.
