This is hilarious and all too true. God bless Joe Biden, but he needs to just go away. Great column!

That the Bidens think they would be welcomed back on a stage is galling. They must not remember when all the fund raising went dry after the debate, or his poll numbers, or Garlands inability to act decisively in the name of justice. He did some good things but his inability to communicate the benefit of those things was his Achilles heel. Oh and not having to hear about Hunter ever again is maybe the only plus in Trumps destruction of our country.

Sadly this is spot on. Like Jon, I certainly don't place all the blame on Biden for the shit-nado we find ourselves in. But if we're tracking contributing factors, Biden insisting on running in 2024---98% ego and 2% "I really believe I can help"---was one of the greatest political blunders in US history. The fact that his family enabled and allowed doddering grandpa to try and fry the turkey was both misguided and really, really sad.

If you want to see the direction the Democratic party should go, look no further than the massive crowds Bernie and AOC are pulling. The answers aren't in Washington. They're on the streets.

Like your writing. But this is too over the top for me. Biden not to blame for all of this. They share in the blame, maybe. But served our country well.

And can still serve it

I agree with you. Biden may not have been perfect but he is a good man with values, compassion and empathy. He never stopped working to improve people's lives, and I miss him.

Your panning of Joe Biden is why I don't like following sports in general. Too all or nothing. Win or go home. So macho, winner take all. Which is why your writing is too sportsy in this case and not celebratory of the individual gladiator who failed miserably in his comeback. Can't you just list your 10 reasons without continuing the prose brutality? No one in their right mind is going to take Biden up on the offer. Focus there. Not on Biden. You sound too much like the opposition.

I completely agree - this is all on Joe and his never-hidden massive ego (and his enablers). That said, the guy has nothing to lose at this point - History will look at him like a lamer version of James Buchanan at this point, so I’d be very curious to see what he could possibly accomplish at this point. Maybe at the very least he’d draw some fire and distract Trump while other Dems made inroads somewhere else. (But nobody should give the guy a goddamn dime.)
