Also, kudos to the proud Muslim American who spoke up.

I can't believe the world we are living in, thank you for keeping us aware of what is happening within our communities. Its disgusting when individuals like this are giving a platform only to spread their hate and conspiracies. But knowing that someone running the meeting didn't do anything to denounce this behavior is even more disturbing.

Any decent person would be willing to risk a Brown Act violation (because it would likely amount to nothing) to condemn the speaker after the comments were made. Truly reprehensible behavior from all parties involved.

Pretty sure Lisa is Mormon/LDS, not Jehovah’s Witness FYI! But yeah, not surprised. 😣

Horrifying on many levels. The vile bigoted racist Islamophobic speaker “Kraus” is under the delusion he has superior “white intelligence”. He hates Mamdani and Obama. He is probably all in for the Genocide in Gaza we US taxpayers are funding. Were his talking points from Ben Gvir and Smotrich? Is San Juan Capistrano part of greater Usrael now?

It may be no board member stopped “Kraus” for fear of being “anti-semitic”.

The Muslim who spoke later was the true American. I’d rather have 1000 Americans like the Muslim speaker than one piece of garbage like “Kraus” influencing school policy.

That guy is insane

Thank you Jeff for attending the meeting. The anti Muslim rant is truly frightening.

He’s clearly mentally ill and, Brown Act aside, there’s nothing to be gained by arguing with him or attempting to shut him down. School, County and City boards all have a problem with unhinged speakers ranting about bullshit for their allotted three minutes.

That guy is vile and I’m not even going to waste a minute googling him. But the fact that he feels safe and comfortable going to a school board meeting and spewing his hate and islamaphobia says so much about the state of not just our district, but our entire country. I think we are c-o-o-k-e-d cooked.

You can find old clips of this guy on the Wally George show

Unfortunately school board members cannot comment or respond to public comments on items not on the agenda. It would be a violation of the Brown Act. Not saying that she would if she could. Just letting people know because it is frustrating to watch regardless of who holds the gavel when comments are so hateful.

It’s tricky. I think they can make a statement though. They can’t go back and forth. And it was vile but also free speech…is this guy looking to be shut down so he can sue?

This is what I mean. They can’t go back and forth during public comment.

They can make a statement later though….

It is tricky as noted above. I am a school board member and even a general comment later could be construed as remarking on something that was discussed by a member of the public which was not on the agenda. Trust me. It is very challenging. Again, not saying that she would have acted differently if given the opportunity.

The free speech arguments are a little suspect when you consider how many times this crew has packed their meetings with supportive comments while preventing other views from being heard.
