Thanks for your consistent coverage of the down ballot races - they have been targeted before and are being targeted once again. And when you hear "back to basics" it also means dismantling public education and stripping resources away from students and families. That bus logo, to your point, just signals all the candidates not to vote for, including Kelly Felton and Ziggy McBride in Tustin since apparently it's rinse and repeat from a graphic design POV. They all went through the Moms for Liberty bootcamp and used a "multiple choice" menu selection for their platform(s)...
Great article with one major error. Right now there are FOUR right wing extremist trustees on the board, so the majority...Lisa, Lisa, N-word Judy and Jennifer. CUSD is already drowning. We're toast if Ron Ruef, Jeanna Emmons AND Melissa Caldwell aren't elected.
Yes, but people like Judy Bullockus can't run again, or she isn't running again. I'm not going to take the time to see what CUSD term limits are, but it's looking life you can hold a max of 2 terms.
The ‘thousands of years’ rhetoric undoubtedly pertains to the bible and Jesus. The common maga trope is that all the founders beliefs stemmed from the their Christian beliefs. Never mind that nearly all were Deists at best if not outright skeptics. Heck, the primary author of the Declaration of Independence - Thomas Jefferson - made his own version of the bible. He cut out the entire Old Testament, most of the New Testament, kept the gospels which he edited to remove all supernatural elements (resurrection, water to wine, etc) l, and removed any mention of Jesus as divine or the son of god - just keeping the underlying philosophical and parable elements (love thy neighbor …). in the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797, signed by President John Adam’s asserted in the treaty that “the government of the United States of America, is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion”.
The "thousands of years" reference is to the governance that took place before our founding fathers created our basis for the country, but that also references literal dynasties, empires, rulers, etc that were in no way good at what they did.
We need to teach children to at least sign their names in cursive. I just came from another meeting last night with the Canyon Dems where they had this fab speaker who is a professor at Fullerton College who closed her message with encouraging teaching cursive again as the curing of ballots in the under 35 group is nearly impossible due to the signatures *never matching*. I'll tell you, both of my adult daughters struggle with their signatures.
My girls were in CUSD many years ago and I don't recall them having that. They were also in Montessori where they probably learned a little of it, but either way I'm seeing it across the board not only with my girls but the youngsters I'm encountering when I volunteer at voter registration events. And I know people who cure ballots- there are 2 reasons they have to contact voters: they didn't sign the envelope OR the signature was too different from what they have on file.
