Let's just be as cruel as possible.
If you're trans, this government loathes you.
If we’re handing out trophies for Biggest American Asshole(s) of All Time, the Trump Administration wins in a lock. Over John Rocker. Over Phyllis Schalfly. Over David Duke and Ted Nugent and Bill Cosby and the rapists and murderers who fill up the news.
They are, collectively, assholes.
If you doubt me, check out this, from the New York Times. Headline: New Passport Rule Sends Blunt and Sweeping Message to Trans Americans.
Lede:
And it’s mean, to be mean. That’s the entire intent. Cruelty. Raw, base-level cruelty. To make the marginalized feel even more marginalized. To take people on the fringes and remind them of their status. To placate the so-called “Christian” among us who behave as Christ-like as a puddle filled with crack and shit.
There is no benefit in this new regulation. There is no governmental advantage. It exists to make powerful people more powerful and trans people lower than low.
And, the craziest thing: You can brag about grabbing women by the pussies—no problem. You can attempt to subvert democracy—no problem. You can pay off a porn star in hush money—no problem.
But being trans in America?
You have no place.
You are nothing.
You are shit and crack in a puddle.
As liberals, we need to remember these moments. We need to collect them one by one, and use them on the rise back to power. We need to keep a list of all the people who believe in meanness over love, and we need to marginalize them; to use them as Grade A examples of the temporary nature of legitimacy.
We must never forget the cruelty.
Never.

You can call them a-holes, but I think they’re more accurately sadists. They derive some sick enjoyment from visiting misery upon others.
its not just the cruelty...its that they ENJOY the cruelty
