I am asking you, dear readers, for a favor
Believe it or not, I have a job outside of blogging about politics. Thug life.
So some of you might not know that—away from The Truth OC—I have devoted my life to sports journalism. Once upon a time I was a Major League Baseball beat writer for Sports Illustrated, and over the two decades that followed I published 10 books, all about sports. It has been, for me, a dream profession. Literally what I dreamed about doing as a boy.
Anyhow, for the first time in my life I decided to write a non-sports book. The topic is the rapper/actor Tupac Shakur, and “Only God Can Judge Me: The Many Lives of Tupac Shakur,” drops today. I interviewed 652 people for this project; spent three years retracing the steps of a truly fascinating and unique figure who died nearly three decades ago at age 25. And unless you are a member of the Capo Unified School Board or Huntington Beach City Council, I suspect you will find Tupac’s journey riveting. The son of a famed Black Panther, Tupac rose from poverty, homelessness, abuse to become one of the world’s great hip-hop artists and icons.
Anyhow, I don’t ask much from readers of this site. Actually, I ask nothing of readers of this site, save for enjoyment and political activism. But if you feel compelled to buy a copy, I would be eternally grateful. And if you don’t feel compelled to buy a copy, but have friends or family members who might be interested, even spreading the word would be hugely appreciated.
It’s available at Amazon, B&N, Chevalier’s and all spots in between—and I will happily sign and personalize, if you’d like.
Also, here’s a trailer …
Lastly, thank you for enduring this post. I actually loathe asking for stuff. For help. For assistance. But books are my livelihood, and my livelihood is joy.
Thank you.
Jeff
PS: This was the best find of my career …
PPS: I will be doing an event this Wednesday in Tustin. No politics, just Tupac and cookies (well, maybe some politics) …
I bought it at bookshop.org. They help support independent bookstores

Jeff, could you start posting links to your various podcast appearances and written interviews promoting the book at the end of your Truth OC posts? I love listening to you!
