Does ANYONE in Huntington Beach leadership possess an ounce of decency?
In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's murder, Surf City hosts a white power rally.
In case you missed this, in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s shooting, a load of white supremacists gathered in (where else?) Huntington Beach to hold a rally.
Here, take a gander …
And while there’s nothing particularly surprising about California’s Kentucky being (yet again) Ground Zero for a racist upbringing, I remain steadfast in my shock that members of Huntington Beach’s City Council refuse (almost by instinct) to ever do the right thing.
Or, put differently: Now two days post-march, nary a one of the seven council members have uttered a peep of protestation. Chad Williams’ IG feed: Nada. Gracey Van Der Mark’a IG feed: Nada: Casey McKeon’s IG feed: Nada. Andrew Gruel’s IG feed: Nada. Don Kennedy’s IG feed: Nada. Butch Twining’s IG feed: Nada. Mayor Pat Burns, the dude who sits at the head of the table with his gavel and scowl: Nada.
I know it’s a hope that will never come true, but do we reach a point where Huntington Beach’s leaders ever do the kind, ethical, decent thing? Like, I have no problem with the seven members mourning Charlie Kirk, expressing respect for his memory, bemoaning his death. They’re conservatives, he was a conservative. I’d expect nothing less. All good.
But when the white power movement takes to your street and chants, “White man fight back!”—well, it shouldn’t take a Bible (Chad?) or Latina heritage (Gracey?) for someone to step forward and say, “No. Let’s no do this. No.”
Alas, Huntington Beach has to Huntington Beach.
And here we sit.
