I absolutely loved Trevor’s book! It was an education for me on things I’d never learned were happening having lived my first 35 years it ruby red Idaho but grew up with a union/Democratic/immigrant family thankfully

Now I want to read it.

As a retired teacher from the Newport Mesa USD (with an outstanding school board with a couple of trustees that I call friends) and a new member of the CUSD community, I will be attending the next board meeting on the 17th of this month. I’m now so curious as to why it’s so loaded with MAGA types and apparently doesn’t seem to be balanced nor focused on educational practice based on research. Thank you for your posts!

Local white tool continues to obsessively track the every move of a mother in the community: lanky dork Jeff Pearlman satisfies his fetish for conservative, blonde white women by obsessively typing out random and subjective details about their life online for his low-IQ Internet audience. Pearlman’s liberal echo chamber hoots back its approval on-line: “Yeah! Get ‘er , Jeff! That…dumb blonde! Who smells of vanilla citrus!” The “bestselling” sportswriter’s dumb, fifth-grade level insults on local mother actually are par for the course for a man who devotes his life to writing about the successes of other men.

The question remains: why cant Jeff Pearlman quit Amber Smith?

He is obsessed with Amber Smith because she has hit a nerve… he over focuses on “ grooming,” it must be a little close to his heart and he doesn’t want to keep porn from children because he knows that is one of the first steps to grooming, especially adolescent boys… maybe that’s his swerve?

Thank you for shining a light on CapoUSD board members. I hope we can vote these people out! Born a Crime is a great book and book banning needs to stop. So does using the N word, attacking trans kids, etc etc etc. And no school vouchers!! The lack of support for public education is how we ended up with these crazy zealots.

I have read that Trevor Noah book and it is great and WHY would anyone find it objectionable?

Sparkplug761's avatar

The complaints are public record and the only complaint about it stated the word sh&t was used too many times.

Jeff's avatar

Is the word sh!t appropriate in the classroom?

Sparkplug761's avatar

Do you read many books? I’ve read most of the classics as well as high school required reading and can assure you, the language isn’t always G rated. Context is always important. The great news is we can opt our kids out of any book we may not feel comfortable with. This particular book isn’t regular curriculum. Did you attend the IMRC meeting where the books were discussed in detail?

Jose's avatar

No, Lisa, I work full-time and help my wife with our small children when I get off so I don’t have the luxury of watching school board members talk about a book

Sparkplug761's avatar

Lisa? I read the books so I can confidently talk about their merit or lack there of. School board members don’t attend IMRC meetings however there were several teachers there that discussed the books in detail with context of the lessons. Before passing judgement on anything, perhaps seek to understand it better first. Wouldn’t you teach your children to do the same on any topic?

Not that Lisa. What’s appropriate for children to read can be subjective. And because you can “talk about [the books’] merit,” that’s it? They must be stellar? Appropriate? The braggadocio of some of the white parents in this district is vomit-worthy.

Those think misogyny, olilgarchy, apartheid and racism are God's will, are certain to find it objectionable.

This is powerufl local investigative journalism right here. The core issue you're raising about residency and representation really cuts to the heart of democratic accountability in school governance. If someone's moved 1,500 miles away and literally posting from a planewhile making decisions that shape what kids read in California classrooms, that's not just quirky, it undermines the whole premise of community oversight. The fact that Board Policy 6161.1 allows this kind of proxy influence from out of state makes you wonder what other accountability gaps exist inthe system.

Jeff's avatar

“Powerful journalism”? Are you brand new to reading?

These dimwits sound a lot like our beloved MAGA-dominated Huntington Beach City Council…

I used to work for Ocean View School District; not sure of their current reputation, but there were & are books not allowed in the school libraries.

See also the controversy surrounding our HB library system. Censorship at work in your community.

More morons from Calvary Chapel. They will be dealt with in the next election.

Jeff's avatar

Like they were in the last election? Oh wait….

Eileen's avatar

Appreciate your reporting on these important local electeds. Is there really a religion that excommunicates a member for farting?

Eileen's avatar

I just love your writing.

Jeff's avatar

Such a talent, eh? Over-the-hill loser writing fart jokes, yah?

Just one more reason I thank God I live on the SVUSD side of the dividing line.

I don't keep up with SVUSD but be careful and aware next election. There are likely some of these Mom's for Liberty backed extremests running. Hopefully not but they are everywhere.

Lucky you! This MAGA school Board lowers our home values.

Mission Viejos a dump anyway so there’s that

You with Gays Against Groomers or just the local MAGA Farm?

Jeff's avatar

Nice rebuttal. Tu Pac would be proud. Oh wait, Tu PAC would tell you to GTF away from him and throw your book in a burning trash can

She sounds like a complete and utter buffoon so exposing her stupidity is mission critical to defending academic excellence. Or do you prefer the strip mall "church" nuts to destroy public school standards? I bet you are part of that moronic cult... Anyways, your orange clown has a 36% approval rate so your traitorous Putin loving, Grand 'Ol pedo party's days are numbered.

Jeff's avatar

“Humongous”…sure,bro

Renee's avatar

I am sure Amber still lives in California. I believe people are allowed to have more than one residence. Opening a business in another state doesn’t necessarily make you a resident of that state. The writing in this is horrible, the language atrocious. If you have children would you want them using the language in this piece?

Jeff Pearlman's avatar

Renee, your girl Amber and Co. literally signed up the Gays Against Groomers dude to infiltrate a school board meeting, and another member (one y'all love) was dropping n-words.

Renee's avatar

Have you ever known someone who uses the N word? I have…& mostly every black in America has heard it & used it… unfortunately… If you think there has never been a gay groomer… you are ignorant. Pedophiles hetro or homo will groom… so is it wrong that there are Gays that want to support protecting children from pedophiles? There are Gays that don’t want to normalize exposing children to adult content before they are old enough to comprehend what they are witnessing or reading.

Candy's avatar

What language is atrocious?

Renee's avatar

The F word…. For starters… I have read other stuff… poor writing… poor choice of words…

Jeff's avatar

Do you use that language at your PTA meetings, candy?

Candy's avatar

What pta meetings are you referring to, jeff?

Jose's avatar

Is there more than one kind, Candace?
