It is important to be realistic about the environment in this country as we work to make things better. While I continue to hope and believe most people do not want to see vulnerable people (children, elderly, pregnant) suffer, we cannot deny what we see with our eyes: there is a sizable and vocal minority that are celebrating the suffering of people made in God’s image (so long as they are not white). This underscores the need to publicize the suffering our government is creating so those who support it cannot pretend they don’t know.

Off the top of my head, Sydney Kamlager-Dove and Jimmy Gomez are going great work on this. Both are back at ICE facilities this morning trying to do oversight (Kamlager-Dove actually did get access to the facility in Adelanto today). Obviously the governor and Senator Padilla are also doing a lot of work to keep this issue front and center. Locally, Supervisor Sarmiento is working to highlight what's happening in Orange County and also trying to support the immigrant community.

Also, governors Walz, Hochul and Pritzker also just testified in front of Congress on how ICE is impacting their states.

Yes, some are, absolutely - and have been all along. Our job is to spread the word, share the articles and videos, make sure those people know, who need to know.

The videos are heartbreaking, but the comments on them are, for the most part, horrifying.

We need to make clear the values we promote as Democrats. In today’s substack Robert Reich framed the issues as right wing culture war vs economic populism. A focus on economic populism, plus highlighting the blatant cruelty towards immigrants, will be a winning message. The immigration issue is very much an economic issue. Wired Magazine has a story today entitled “Companies Warn SEC That Mass Deportations Pose Serious Business Risk.”

"The immigration issue is very much an economic issue."

Correct. However, unless they have a 4 year degree they are a drain on the economy.

Those companies filing reports with the SEC do not agree with you.

Somehow I doubt you know more about economics than Robert Reich. I bet you misunderstood what the Economist wrote - or you are making it up, since you did not actually provide a reference to your source.

And furthermore, the math ain’t mathin’. Think about it.
