Volodymyr Zelenskyy comes to Washington
And I am absolutely mortified. And ashamed. And heartbroken for our nation.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy came to Washington today to meet with Donald Trump and, I guess, J.D. Vance.
This is a man whose nation is hanging on by the tiniest of threads. A man who has been at war for years. A man who is the subject of assassination attempts. A man who is fighting an extraordinarily righteous battle that, in the simplest of terms, pits a just nation and its people against Vladimir Putin and the evils of his desire to reunite the old Soviet Union.
So, again, Zelenskyy came to Washington, and to the White House, hoping against logic that, just maybe, the United States of America would hold good to its history as a land of freedom.
Instead, he got this …
And, just as cringe-worthy, this …
If there’s a silver lining (and, really, there isn’t), it’s watching Marco Rubio at the end of the couch, sinking into the hellish brew that is of his own making. Not all that long ago, Rubio was a fairly respected U.S. Senator. He had presidential aspirations. He was (seemingly) smart and savvy and en route to bigger places.
And there he sat, next to the hayseed vice president, across from the moron president, wondering whether, truly, it was worth selling out for a job title and a parking space.
As the country he loves crumbles.
Sob! Yes I feel horrible for him and Ukraine. But I feel equally horrified that Trump would take us from a freedom loving country to an evil force in the world. Trump took away my homeland.
These people are such an embarrassment. I didn't think I could even be surprised by these assholes anymore, but here we are.
