Our country is currently a sh#t show. But I keep hoping that with more reporters like you we'll get some of the dumb fu#ks to wake up and we'll turn things around. Thanks for your work.
There’s a scene in the movie, “Clear and Present Danger” where Jack Ryan catches one of his CIA colleagues in an illegal scheme. The guy whips out a letter from the Secretary granting him permission to do the thing he’s doing. He shows Jack the letter and says, “You don’t have one of these, do you?” Bolton doesn’t have “one of those”: a pardon, a federal judge in his pocket, a DoJ representing him, etc.
Here is the truth: Congress is the only body that can hold the president accountable, and it is currently on hiatus so that Mike Johnson can lick Trump boots clean every night. (If you can think of a man who has been more subservient to another man than Johnson has been to Trump, let me know).
Under our conservative Supreme Court's interpretation of our constitution, we have a "unitary" executive, meaning that the independent agencies that Congress created aren't really independent, and the president can weaponize them any way he wants (except of you're Biden and want to restructure federal student loan terms. That, of course, is a constitutional crisis). So, yeah, you won't get much push back from the majority of those judicial toadies with the exception of Kagan, Sotomayor, and Jackson, who are truly doing the Lord's work.
The Republican-controlled Congress is basically a defunct body at this point. When I was working for USAID, we would call this "state capture." Basically, Trump has captured both the mechanisms implementation in the executive branch, which he can weaponize against whomever he wants AND Congress has completely ceded it's constitutional duty.
Thus, we are in the upside down in which Jonathan Ross, who murdered Renee Good and called her a fucking bitch, still walks free, but if you mention that on your Instagram, you can be threatened with a federal crime.

Every day it’s beyond words. Truth must be stronger, resilient and balanced versus this spittle of madness, chaos and mental illiness.
As a flawed person, I look toward character is destiny. Hope.
We are in the Upside Down and I'm not sure which one is worse - the Stranger Things version or the MAGA version...
You forgot about the folks who defecated inside the Capitol building.
