In case you’ve been living in a bunker or (cough) addicted to the Netflix Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders doc series, masked ICE agents are all over SoCal these days, snatching up brown people, pinning them to the ground, handcuffing them, then taking them away in unmarked vehicles.

This is Nazi-level shit.

Today, I had a lengthy chat with a woman I know who has spent decades working for the Department of Homeland Security. And she told me, in the most horrified of tones, that the masked ICE agents are almost all new recruits, and largely correction officers plucked from their relatively dull positions, deputized and ordered to roam Los Angeles and do what they love most—crack down on minorities.

The woman said no self-respecting DHS vet would wear a mask on the job, or smash windows, or drag innocent people to the ground because they’re brown and speak Spanish. Again, she was disgusted.

And, although it’s probably a bit tasteless, I want to offer a political suggestion in regards to how we should be handling this. In a nutshell: Ask Republicans about it in public settings. Ask Young Kim. Ask Chad Williams. Ask Darrell Issa and Scott Baugh and Will O’Neill. Ask them if they’re OK with the (now reported) dozens upon dozens of American citizens being held (sans charge). Ask them if they’re OK with the maintenance crews, with the bus boys, with the gardeners being thrown into an 8x8 cell, then flown the next day to El Salvador. Ask them how they feel about husbands being separated from wives. Parents being separated from children. Tell them about your nanny—who came here to escape drug cartels. Tell them about your classmate, who had planned on joining the National Guard.

Put them on the motherfucking spot, iPhone camera rolling, because the truth is—what’s going down isn’t only inhumane, It’s increasingly unpopular.

Folks were told the criminals were being deported.

Not the lawn dude.

Make the politicians pay.
