There's a lesson Orange County can learn from Wisconsin
Elon Musk gave Democrats the ideal villain. We have plenty to go around out here.
For the first time in a while, I feel mildly upbeat about something political.
Yesterday evening, in Wisconsin, voters resoundingly selected the progressive Susan Crawford over the MAGA-oozing Brad Schimel in the election to fill a State Supreme Court seat.
What was supposed to be a nail-biter wasn’t even close …
This was an election dominated by Elon Musk, the drooling, skipping, yelping, occasional-child support-paying sloth monster who did everything within his power to buy Schimel the win. Among other things, X Boy spent $25 million on the race, and even tried swaying the undecided by offering bushels of literal cash. Wrote the New York Times …
And what’s awesome is the reality: Instead of bringing voters towared Schimel, Musk scared the living shit out of them. He was loud and obnoxious and creepy and ubiquitously revolting. He channeled a warped modern version of Marie Antoinette, and he did this whole, um, thing …
Ultimately, the lesson is pretty simple, and equally unambiguous: Weird doesn’t sell. Nuts doesn’t sell. Terrifying people with your outlandishness doesn’t sell. In fact, those non-attributes do the opposite. They make people leap back and say, “Um, no thank you. I don’t want any part of it.”
And here, in Orange County, what we must do (and what this site intends to do) is expose the MAGA freakoids who populate far too many of our boards and elected offices. In the past, liberals have run largely on their own records. Which is good—positive records matter. But what has to accompany that is the soup-to-nuts breakdown of the insane person trying to conceal their own insanity. For example—Capo Unified School Board member Jennifer Adnams won her seat because she came off as a soccer mom, not the hard-right religious zealout who leads a wack pyramid scheme. Aliso Viejo City Council member Mike Munzing looks like a normal conservative business dude—not a stalkerish weirdo who wants to defund the Boys & Girls Club. The list goes on and on and on and on—an endless conga line of people who, thanks to the death of local media, rise up by concealing their true selves.
For my money (if not Elon’s), that ends here. Ends now.
This website is an exposure machine.
We will transform these folks into Musks.
Have you considered coming up the coast to NPB? We've multiple lawsuits currently against the city; a coucil member who is always drinking alcohol, often on the dais; contractors (CdM Market) anouncing they've won the contract before the issue comes before the council; just to name a few.
How about starting a "MAGA of Orange County" tiktok to expose these weirdos?
