Quentin Wiltz
Know the name, because it symbolizes something glorious.
It is easy to get down.
It is so, so, so, so easy to get down.
But here’s the thing, and it’s important: Despite all the shit going on; despite the hellscape we occupy; despite the evil intentions of ghouls like Donald Trump and J.D. Vance and Pete Hegseth …
They are wildly unpopular.
That’s not an exaggeration. Trump’s approval rating is inching toward the very low 30s, which is something we haven’t seen in … ever, maybe? The war is a shit-show. The economy blows. Gas is crazy expensive—even for California. ICE raids are ridiculously unpopular. And every time Trump blathers on about the new ballroom or the America Blue reflecting pool, Americans (left and right) just become increasingly pissed off. “We’re struggling to eat … and you’re planning renovations?”
Enter: Quentin Wiltz.
This past weekend, Pearland, Texas—a town that voted +3 for Donald Trump in 2024—elected Wiltz as its first-ever Black mayor, and first-ever Democratic mayor. The result was was a stunning upset; most presumed the favorite, a white Republican CPA named Tony Carbone, would triumph fairly easily.
And this sort of thing is happening e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e right now. Seriously, when’s the last time you even heard of a Republican triumphing? And it’s a direct result of folks finally becoming fed up, exhausted, disgusted by the abuses of power coming from Washington. To quote Eric Keith, “[Wiltz’s] victory is not an isolated event. Across the country in recent months, Democratic-backed candidates have been quietly chipping away at Republican-held local seats, a pattern political observers have noted as a potential early signal ahead of the November midterms, even as the GOP has largely downplayed its significance.”
So, if Quentin Wiltz can do it in cherry-red Texas, we can do it, too.
Seriously.
We. Can. Do. It. Too.

If it's OK to post this here, I found a great organization called Contesteveryrace.com. They recruit candidates to run in otherwise uncontested seats. Check them out!

As the saying goes, "The darkest hour is just before the dawn."
I sure hope so, because it's awfully goddamned dark right now...
