Wow. That was powerful. It is so true. The feelings overwhelming me are not anger but grief. It helps to name it. We have lost so much in the last 10 years. Lost the ideals we stood for, lost the belief that our fellow citizens are good people, and lost the respect of the world. When he is dead it will not be a complete relief because we now know that there are many people in the country who are severely damaged humans that looked up to trump. So sad. Not sure I agree with the author that Vance is a good man. That stretches credulity. Thanks for posting this

All of America is not looking away. Giving up and acceptance is not an option. See you all at No Kings next week.

Yes: America is being grieved.

I looked at the map of No Kings protests, and it brought tears - not of joy but something else that includes grief plus resolve. Rallies are planned not just in the US but in Iceland, Europe, Australia. @Gandalv is spot on in saying people around the world are grieving for what our nation was supposed to be.

Too many among us think that this state of affairs is “good.”

We are in a literal battle of good vs. evil, where evil is triumphant - for now. I hope my grandchildren’s children will experience a new and improved USA rising from the ashes of the one that is being destroyed before our eyes.

This article gives words to the feelings that I and much of humanity is grappling with. We are grieving. I can’t help but feel angry and maybe that’s the healthy response to turn this ugly downward spiral.

There will be a day in the not-too-distant future that trump will face a reckoning, whether it is while he's alive or in an afterlife (if he believes in that), but that day he'll finally be held accountable for his transgressions is coming.

We have lost both our parents, two years apart. My sister and I held their hands as they passed. Let them know how much we loved them, how grateful we were for their presence in our lives, and that we would be okay. This passage brought it all back and I am also grieving the dignity that used to be an American president. Hopefully our friends will have us back when we regain our conscience.

Yesterday I posted concern in this space for what you had written at Trump's desecration following Robert Mueller's death. Today you posted @gandalv's words, asked us to take a moment, ingest his words. As I read them just now I sensed a kind of penance in your gesture and think it important to admit to you I share that myself.
