Harris had her shot and never rose to the occasion. She’s a poor speaker, showed no independence from Biden when it was critical etc. - stick a fork in it. The future for the Democratic party is with exceptional thinkers and DOERS like Katie Porter, Pete Buttigieg, AOC, Stacy Abrams. No more pretty smiles and “hope and change” bullshit. This is a fucking war.

Katie Porter? Please give me a break. She was OK in Congress but is NOWHERE near the gravitas of Kamala Harris. That is not a serious assessment. The others: OK.

Rina Jacobson's avatar

She was dead to me when she didn’t contest the election and conceded that night.

JWhite156's avatar

She is leaving politics. Not intentionally, but because she will not be elected Pres in 2028. I really liked her, this is sad.

DontArgueWithStrangers's avatar

She won’t last long if she runs. Her first campaign was a bust and when she had a chance to really show us who she is, she covered for Biden. I don’t need to hear another word about Biden or Harris. I appreciate what they did for the country but it’s time for new faces.

I don’t have much of an opinion on 2028, but I do know that I’d be all in for Katie Porter as governor, and this improves her chances.

DontArgueWithStrangers's avatar

I would love Katie to be our governor. That would be awesome.

Rina Jacobson's avatar

I love Katie, but she doesn’t have a chance against the bros….

Katie Porter? Help me get it. I do not see her as a candidate for Governor.

Kamala might actually have been elected President if she’d said six words in response to the commercial about “they, them” that Orange Jesus ran in the swing states just prior to Election Day : no boys in girls sports. Period. (Pun intended).

But she couldn’t / didn’t say it and we got Trump. So yes, stick a fork in Kamala. She’s done.

Brett Howser's avatar

Instead of directing your inane anti-science propaganda at me Elizabeth, perhaps you should instead contact Faith and see what her views are on biological men cosplaying females in athletic events? Her opinion matters waaaay more than yours (or mine) as she’s actually a female athlete.

Elizabeth VanderYacht's avatar

Is that your personal view? No boys in girls sports?

Brett Howser's avatar

Maybe you missed it Elizabeth, but Nike recently sponsored a 31 year old elite female French distance runner named Faith Kipyegon in an attempt for her to run a 4 minute mile. She had every possible level of support and her time ended up being a phenomenal 4:06. Bravo! If you missed this event you may also not know how many high school boys ran a faster mile than 4:06 this year? So I’ll tell ya - 24 boys did. To me, and anyone not mentally paralyzed by identity propaganda, the significance of 24 high school boys beating the time Faith, an elite female runner, ran is that biological sex matters very very much in athletic performance.

So the answer to your query is YES.

I recommend checking out some medical and scientific findings on the subject. Changes include:

Decreased muscle mass:

FHT can lead to a reduction in muscle mass and strength, though muscle mass in trans women may still be higher than in cisgender women.

Increased fat mass:

Fat mass, including both visceral and subcutaneous fat, tends to increase with FHT.

Fat redistribution:

Fat tends to redistribute to a more feminine pattern, with increased fat deposition in the hips, thighs, and breasts.

Skin and Hair:

Softer skin: Skin tends to become softer and more delicate due to hormonal changes.

Increased oil production: Some individuals may experience an increase in skin oiliness.

Reduced facial and body hair: Hormone therapy can lead to a reduction in the amount and thickness of facial and body hair.

Other Physical Changes:

Breast development: Breast growth is a common and often desired effect of FHT.

Decreased testicular volume: Testicles tend to shrink in size as a result of hormonal changes.

Changes in sweat and body odor: Individuals may experience changes in the amount and odor of their sweat.

Please invite me to your next track meet. Until then … Vaya con Dios

How incredibly narrow minded of you. Also, if someone is trans, they are the gender that they are -- regardless of the parts they were born with. So if a trans woman is competing? A woman is competing in a woman's sport. By even saying that person is a man competing in a women's sport only shows your ignorance on the subject.

Next you'll tell me that Black people have different physiology and are better at sports. It's all eugenics. It has all been scientifically disproved.

Hogwash, Read the UK NHS "Cass Report" and stop costing us elections.

Very disappointed. My vision was for her to do a great job managing CA, then using that momentum to run again in 6 years.

I agree with you. I'm afraid in order to take back the White House we need to appeal to more than the left side of our base.....,meaning we still need a straight white Christian male and use the time to get the country out of the muck we're in before we break any more barriers.

100% agree with you Jeff.

💯 that ship sailed.

She was in an impossible situation, and handled it spectacularly. However, while she says she’s in the fight, I haven’t seen it. Not a peep. Not even now. She is not barn-storming like Bernie and AOC, like Trump continued to do in the face of everything. You got to hand it to the guy that he does not give up the fight. So we need fighters, and Kamala is just not that.

The people who say that "Harris had her shot" are missing the important point(s) that the convicted grifter, rapist, and traitor should never have been allowed to run (even from behind bars which is one of the threats we heard), AND that lying and getting major publications to lie are only two of the forms of CHEATING that happened during the last election, not to mention openly buying votes and co-spirators. We also know that there was voter tampering on a large scale and many who have analyzed the data (fairly) say that Harris actually won. I can easily believe it. Harris could easily win again, especially if she doesn't listen to Politics-As-Usual-Pundits and doesn't run an old fashioned campaign against the oligarchy-confederacy.

Skenny's avatar

Kamala is pretending that she isn't running for governor because, in her words, "I don’t want to go back in the system. I think it’s broken."

Anyone can guess the real reason: Polling. Because she would lose, again. She's a loser.

Rinoa's avatar

I don’t have hard feelings against Harris; in fact, I’m personally biased in favor of her because I know someone who is friends with her and I’ve heard from them that she’s a good person, so that’s always affected my judgment of her despite everything.

But I don’t want her to run again and I don’t think the Democrats have anyone right now who is highly electable candidate for 2028. I really, really don’t think it will be a Californian, because let’s be frank, we lose a lot of appeal to middle America.

I think the Democrats need someone very charismatic and has a pro-populist message over everything. I’m more of a progressive myself, but I’m fine with / understand this person may need to appeal to centrists. I think that person needs to campaign on AND actually genuinely deliver on some of the promises Trump made and broke/lied about, like lower groceries, transparency in government, and being the “common sense” party.

Harris was raked over the coals by the MAGAs and conservative spin machines. Her family was threatened, step children ripped apart in the right-wing press, and even Doug became fodder for the virtual stoning that ensued. Like Geraldine Ferraro, she will likely step back into politics. but will contribute in other ways (e.g. GF focused on international women's rights and before serving as UN Ambassador for Human Rights under Clinton). And I don't blame Kamala if that's what she chooses to do. Women in politics get slandered in ways that men never would be. White men of privilege and mega-church evangelicals will smear them as Jezebels or barely women if they aren't trad wives, in the kitchen making sandwiches for their husbands and popping out babies. She's likely just done with the sexism, racism, and overall hate she experienced from both parties in the last election. Plus, in her statement it really seemed like she was mirroring some of David Hogg's sentiment. She's 60 years old and may want to lift up Katie Porter and other younger progressives.

Amanda Sullivan's avatar

I feel the same way disappointed to say the least. Would have made good gov but so might Katie P but we need her in congress!!!!

Elizabeth VanderYacht's avatar

But Katie's already out of congress. Dave Min has her seat.

Peter Mullins's avatar

I don't think Kamala could win any race. Porter is also a non starter. Cal will only go for a Latino -M or F- or a good looking white or Asian person. This is the land of appearances. Katie ran away in a cowardly Irvine housewife panic from an angry nazi a week ago at an event and it was buried- if she runs it will be all over the media. Someone like Kluwe could take the ball and run with it...

Elizabeth VanderYacht's avatar

Hopefully you realize how sexist that came across.
