Thank you for an inspiring piece. "Where is the light?" I took your final question as a call to action. It's not much, but after reading, I signed up to attend Saturday's rally against illegal deportations in San Juan Capistrano (3pm to 4pm). The event is being organized by the Democratic Women of South Orange County and SJC Indivisible.
Many of us are educating ourselves and others about immigrant rights, and what to do if/when a relative is captured. All bets are off, of course, if ICE is operating in a state that has no respect for the law. My understanding is that as of last week the OC Sheriff Dept continues to respect California law against local cooperation with ICE activities. That may change, but I am more optimistic than I had been.
A big concern is people who leave the country for business or research. Even US citizens are being harassed by border control - even white folks coming from “white” countries. I figure that in the short term I personally am safe, both as a Jew and as an outspoken protester. But I don’t expect that to be true in the longer term - say, by year end - unless Republicans in Congress, including Young Kim of CD40, take back their governing responsibilities.
Yesterday I wrote to Representative Kim to ask whether she would help me if I get “disappeared.”
She will be speaking at the SouthOC4 Democracy protest next Wednesday (23rd). Tomorrow the first guest in the Meet the Candidates Series is Paula Swift
My parents survived the Spanish Flu, WWI, WWII, Vietnam War, etc. until their deaths in 2013 and 2015. They lived to 102. I am glad that they never had to endure life under the Orange Slime.
I have just returned home after taking part in the weekly noon-hour demonstration in downtown Oshkosh, Wis. I saw at least one Free Garcia sign. Our outrage will continue to be public. 😰

We will keep fighting until we get it back. We might not finish it but we’ll keep it going until the good guys win.

Let’s get Christina Gagnier elected to replace Young Kim!

A beautiful piece of work & photos. It’s so frustrating trying to reach people to stand up and fight. Thank you for fighting!
