And many of them want to close the door behind them to new illegal immigration. The LA Times did a great article about it (Arellano column) a couple of years ago.
Kerr is the best bet. Moderates and Independents do not like her stance on illegal immigration.
Anyone who attends the Wednesday weekly Mission Viejo protest can hear lots of people yell their support for MAGA and ICE as they drive by. Prop 50 won by less than 2 percentage points here and Mission Viejo will be split up with the new maps. The higher density southern area will go to Mike Levin's district. I don't think any of the cities in the new 40 are going to be winnable with an immigration attorney as the candidate. Joe will fight against ICE in Congress, but fighting for working people is a more palatable background for No Party Preference voters and non- MAGA Republicans. This race can't be won without some of them voting for a Democrat.
I just don’t see how an immigration attorney can win in a more Republican leaning district. Joe Kerr handily beat the school board candidate in the last election, even without the backing of the teachers’ unions. There are too many voters who support ICE in the newly redrawn CA 40 and too much money to run anti-immigration ads by Ken Calvert (Young Kim is toast). Joe is our only hope to unseat both Young Kim and Ken Calvert in my humble opinion. Who doesn’t like a firefighter? His union leadership will probably be better received in the more working class new CA40 than it was in the old one.
You’re not wrong! Where’s an OC Young Dem or sassy immigrant activist who can step up and help Lisa????
You’re a great source to help our candidates succeed with your advice! You get to the heart of the matter‼️
The new CA-40 will be, oh, 20 percent Latino.
