As a concerned parent, I attended my first CAPO beach school board meeting. My children told me there was something disturbing going to be talked about.
I wanted to hear first hand, from everyone involved what all this was about.
I made it a point to get there early because, I had heard from other parents. Lots of the loud rude, protesters fill the seats and no CONCERNED parents get IN.
When I was outside talking with people before the meeting. There is two sides to this story, one side seemed OPEN "Positive," comforting expressing their side of the information. They seemed organized uplifting.
The other side was "NEGATIVE," Rude, threatening, antagonistic !!!! Their group was paying attendees with food, drinks and manufactured Signs of disinformation. There attendees had no information on what the issue was, lost and CONFUSED !!!
They had a computer spreading "HATE" speech using the County "wifi"
As time approached to OPEN the doors for entry, several of the obnoxious agitators tried to RUSH the door.
As I was sitting in the Back taking in all the information watching all the participants body language. Most of "VIBE" was filled with a DENSE aurora of HATE !!!!
I had found out the group with the "signs" was "extrapolating Out of CONTEXT a word from a Book in the School library review.
As the meeting progressed, it was CLEAR the "sign" group. Were "ACTING" like spoiled kindergarten children throwing a tantrum !!! They were given multiple OPPORTUNITIES to be respectful and responsible for decorum.

To violate the Brown act, a majority of the board would had to have been involved either on the clown zoom and/or in communication after the zoom. I want to add that there were several members of NAACP OC there that were ready to speak. I would have loved to hear what they had to say. I would have also loved to experience the reaction to those speakers by the group of brainwashed teens sitting all around me. They were being guided by their rude leader that they called "their CEO". It was downright creepy. What disgusted me the most was watching all of the NAACP members as well as other black members of the community having to sit there and listen to the nauseating, hateful, misguided BS that was spewing out of teen after teens mouth. I literally felt like I was going to vomit. I only stayed because I felt if they could all handle it to try to stand up for our kids, I better damn well do the same.

It wasn’t always like this. Not too many years ago I went to a Capo board meeting where a middle school gay/straight alliance club (approved by the Principal) was on the agenda. Reportedly a kid attended the alliance meeting with a friend, went home and mentioned it to his parents who went nuts. They wanted it shut down. When they got to the agenda item there was a handful of anti-alliance speakers, a handful of pro-alliance speakers (including an Episcopal priest), and students all of whom spoke in favor of the club. After thank-yous and a few comments from the board, the decision was made to allow the club to continue. No drama. No outrage. In fact, one of the board members indicated that he had come in inclined to vote "no", but changed his mind after hearing the testimony. We live in strange days.

We needed you in January of 2023 to expose F'rod's work with then Board member Madison Miner to ramrod their political agenda within the OUSD school board after they fired our award winning Superintendent and plunged our school district into chaos. Our board meetings lasted well into the morning hours with well rehearsed speakers who weren't even members of the community. These people included a group of criminals from Glendale who threatened some of our board members. The playbook sounds exactly like what we watched at the monthly meetings. It was obvious that the speakers, who often included children were following the same script. Continue to expose these people for the damage they are doing to public education.
Thanks for posting the pic of the speech template the students were all using. As I said at the meeting, this is not just Bullockus' issue at this point. Each board member has their failure to get her resignation on their record forever. As veteran of 40 years in public education I know events like this cause new teachers to apply elsewhere, current teachers to leave and the parents of school-aged children to buy homes in different school districts.
They didn't just orchestrate it, they intentionally tried to revise history. Multiple students were scripted to make it seem she was just quoting a passage from the book. Think about that. Hmmm, I had the exact opposite experience. The only smiles I saw were people with signs. They were hugging, laughing and having fun! I had some first timers come up to me and said they were so glad to find such a welcoming community. Someone offered pizza to the people at the front and got nasty words back so maybe we were were at a different meeting. People were rightfully upset that they didn’t get to speak. I'm from PYLUSD and I've concluded that the Brown Act is meaningless.

Thank you for such strong, independent reporting. I was at the meeting (as well as the last 6 regular board meetings) and you nailed the entire atmosphere of the event. I want to add that there were several members of NAACP OC there that were ready to speak. I would have loved to hear what they had to say. I would have also loved to experience the reaction to those speakers by the group of brainwashed teens sitting all around me. They were being guided by their rude leader that they called "their CEO". It was downright creepy. What disgusted me the most was watching all of the NAACP members as well as other black members of the community having to sit there and listen to the nauseating, hateful, misguided BS that was spewing out of teen after teens mouth. I literally felt like I was going to vomit. I only stayed because I felt if they could all handle it to try to stand up for our kids, I better damn well do the same.
For anyone reading this within CUSD, PLEASE get involved NOW. We need to organize and fight back immediately or the award winning public schools that we all love are going to quickly become trash.

I remember when Frank made his living as an Instacart knock-off during the pandemic. He provided good, reasonably priced delivery service until he got COVID and had to stop. Then dude disappeared - UNTIL he started showing up at Orange Unified School District meetings spewing his brand of hate against the perceived "groomers."
He was one of the spokespeople against a very successful community-driven recall that saw a 30-year incumbent removed and the would-be poster child of Moms for Liberty removed. Incidentally, when I was a sports reporter for the OC Register, I wrote about her playing soccer and running track at a local high school (where she still holds a school record).
Frank is looking for notoriety, and it appears he's found it in his niche. It's SAD that in a county where 2% of the residents are Black, that Blacks have been the #1 minority group victimized by hate crimes in Orange County for 3 years running.
It's not shocking - because people like Frank and all his "friends" trying to normalize the N-word are now passing that bigotry down to their kids.
I remember when Eugene Fields was just losing his own bids for multiple public office elections and race-baiting in Facebook Groups like Orange Buzz II and OUSD Talk. Shocker that neither the author, nor the commenter refer this audience to the full board meeting video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWMY5ZpkeyQ&t=7706s). The full board discussion begins at 1:28:47 and goes till 2:11:24. The controversial use of the N-word occurs at 2:03:53 while they are discussing the use of the N-word in the book James . Instead the author sends the reader to a clip on his own IG page. I guess for the author it's really about the clicks rather then the truth. Typical proof-texting and straw-man arguments with some dashes of ad hominem attacks by the commenter.
Race-baiting? I think it's terrible that anyone- especially someone in elected office - feels comfortable using a racial slur on the dias during a public meeting.
There's no purpose in using a racial slur, whether trying to quote a book or paraphrasing.
I expect more from elected officials.

It wasn’t always like this. Not too many years ago I went to a Capo board meeting where a middle school gay/straight alliance club (approved by the Principal) was on the agenda. Reportedly a kid attended the alliance meeting with a friend, went home and mentioned it to his parents who went nuts. They wanted it shut down. When they got to the agenda item there was a handful of anti-alliance speakers, a handful of pro-alliance speakers (including an Episcopal priest), and students all of whom spoke in favor of the club. After thank-yous and a few comments from the board, the decision was made to allow the club to continue. No drama. No outrage. In fact, one of the board members indicated that he had come in inclined to vote "no", but changed his mind after hearing the testimony. We live in strange days.

Thank you for your reporting. We needed you in January of 2023 to expose F'rod's work with then Board member Madison Miner to ramrod their political agenda within the OUSD school board after they fired our award winning Superintendent and plunged our school district into chaos. Our board meetings lasted well into the morning hours with well rehearsed speakers who weren't even members of the community. These people included a group of criminals from Glendale who threatened some of our board members. The playbook sounds exactly like what we watched at the monthly meetings. It was obvious that the speakers, who often included children were following the same script. Continue to expose these people for the damage they are doing to public education.
Thanks for posting the pic of the speech template the students were all using. As I said at the meeting, this is not just Bullockus' issue at this point. Each board member has their failure to get her resignation on their record forever. As veteran of 40 years in public education I know events like this cause new teachers to apply elsewhere, current teachers to leave and the parents of school-aged children to buy homes in different school districts.
They didn't just orchestrate it, they intentionally tried to revise history. Multiple students were scripted to make it seem she was just quoting a passage from the book. Think about that. Not only setting these students up, but then intentionally creating a story to cover over what actually happened. They have zero integrity.
Thank you for the entertaining reporting. I’d rather laugh than cry! As a parent of two non-white kids I was very eager to see how this played out. What I expected was an apology and actions the board is taking to be and do better. Like maybe the same training the teachers just went through a few weeks ago. But no, they launched their claws at the only trustee who has been speaking out for kids like mine and others in the community hurt by the casual and intention uttering of a racial slur. If I didn’t know better, I would think by the ease and speed with which it rolled off Judy’s tongue, that she’s used that word a time or two. Or a bajillion! Her emails surfaced after this happened. castellanos is no saint and is an absolute hypocrite - she’s just mad someone is using her own tactics against her: censure and students speaking.

I only see a concerned English teacher trying to gather logistical information from Trustee Castellanos that the teacher can then share with students. The students the teacher wants to share the information with would have been directly affected by the new policy had it passed. Is any of that illegal? Please let me know if I am missing something. Do you not see the difference between that (and you could just be throwing it out there like day old fish) and at least TWO board members colluding on a zoom meeting with unknown numbers of other persons? One is an email exchange with a parent. The other is a Brown Act violation. Not that the Moms for Liberty board members give a hoot about rules and protocols, as evidenced in their refusal to sign the “Fairness on Campaign Practices” declaration (that all decent candidates sign) when they ran for office.
Also those kids spoke from their hearts. I was at that meeting and those kids were speaking their own words about something that affects them personally and deeply. Those kids last night didn't know what Judy had done or why they were there. They were just there for a job. And oddly most go to the same church and one is the son of a trustee.
So going to church and communicating with other students of like mind the chaos is somehow "bad" NOW !!!

As a concerned parent, I attended my first CAPO beach school board meeting. My children told me there was something disturbing going to be talked about.
I wanted to hear first hand, from everyone involved what all this was about.
I made it a point to get there early because, I had heard from other parents. Lots of the loud rude, protesters fill the seats and no CONCERNED parents get IN.
When I was outside talking with people before the meeting. There is two sides to this story, one side seemed OPEN "Positive," comforting expressing their side of the information. They seemed organized uplifting.
The other side was "NEGATIVE," Rude, threatening, antagonistic !!!! Their group was paying attendees with food, drinks and manufactured Signs of disinformation. There attendees had no information on what the issue was, lost and CONFUSED !!!
They had a computer spreading "HATE" speech using the County "wifi"
As time approached to OPEN the doors for entry, several of the obnoxious agitators tried to RUSH the door.
As I was sitting in the Back taking in all the information watching all the participants body language. Most of "VIBE" was filled with a DENSE aurora of HATE !!!!
I had found out the group with the "signs" was "extrapolating Out of CONTEXT a word from a Book in the School library review.
As the meeting progressed, it was CLEAR the "sign" group. Were "ACTING" like spoiled kindergarten children throwing a tantrum !!! They were given multiple OPPORTUNITIES to be respectful and responsible for decorum.

Talking with other parents after the meeting who didn’t speak. They tell Me it was the same OLD politics, with exception the conservatives side has the majority NOW. Sally tells me when liberals were in power, there was no Interest in Student education. Their agenda was anti-education, and division and HATE !!!

Hmmm, I had the exact opposite experience. The only smiles I saw were people with signs. They were hugging, laughing and having fun! I had some first timers come up to me and said they were so glad to find such a welcoming community. Someone offered pizza to the people at the front and got nasty words back so maybe we were were at a different meeting. People were rightfully upset that they didn’t get to speak. Common MAGA tactics used throughout the night but sounds like you love you some MAGA.
So it was ok to have those kids give a scripted speech. It was ok for all the MAGA people to pretty much give a scripted speech. Was any thing Jeff wrote in correct?
