"And now, because of them, folks will die." You're surely right about that. But I would note that lots of people have already died because our government is lead by a gang of criminals, thugs and grifters. Renee Good and Alex Pretti were murdered by our government. Numerous people in boats in the Caribbean have been murdered on orders from Donald Trump. People in Venezuela were murdered when Maduro was seized without a Congressional authorization for war. And when you really get down to it, I'm inclined to believe that Trump had Jeffrey Epstein murdered in prison because he knew too much. Our President is a murderer.
I'm in Mission Viejo volunteering at the Oso Fit 5k and don't hear anything but birds and the occasional passer by before the race starts. I saw the news about what we did with Israel sometime around 5 a.m. and was not surprised. Nor was I surprised to see that Russia is pissed. As I walked down to make my morning tea, I sent as much positivity to the universe in honor of the Iranian people, their families here in the US and to our men and women who are being asked to go in and fight an illegal war.
A guy walked by my post a bit ago and was on the phone. I heard him say, "FUCK Trump!," and I couldn't help myself but give a solid, "YEAH MAN!!" To my surprise, the other volunteers all agreed. No one wants him except his invisible silent supporters, most of who are in his own head.
Man. How long before these monsters revive the draft? I heard the news this morning on my way to grandsons' BB playoff game in the Palisades. What my brain recalled:
"And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
Don't ask me I don't give a (danm) darn
Next stop is (Vietnam) Iran.
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopie! We're all gonna die."
Yes, the old protest song was reverberating in my mind with the sickening feeling that this time we have really done it again. Damn. Damn Damn. Protesting the Vietnam War in the 60's felt so much more optimistic although we were losing friends by the dozens. I thought we'd stop wars. SMDH.
The international community would declare Trump a war criminal if it weren't for the likelihood that the UN is in NYC and he would not only impound the building but put everyone in it in a concentration camp. He is full on crazy and worse are the people around him who should be lined up against a wall and horse whipped then dumped in one of their own camps preferably Alligator Isle where they can roast in the muggy heat preparing them for the hell they'll all eventually descend to when they die.
100%. Back in his first term, I was sure tRump would lose the 2020 election, which would leave him holding power for two months between his electoral loss and inauguration day. That felt like the most dangerous period of his entire presidency, since -- as Michael Cohen warned -- he would not leave office without a fight. I didn't see Jan 6 coming, but figured tRump would gin-up a war with Iran during his final weeks in power, then declare a state of emergency in a desperate attempt to remain in office.
I was wrong -- instead we got Jan 6 -- but as the Epstein scandals gains momentum with each passing day, tRump losing support all over the country, and a Blue Wave shaping up for the November elections, it seems he saved his "trump card" -- war with Iran -- for now ... and here we are.

The madman must be stopped.

And the people charged with stopping him are too weak to say or use the only appropriate tool in response: Impeachment
Whatever happened to all that "peace president " talk he was regurgitating months ago?
