A couple of years ago when he wasn’t quite as well known nationally, some friends from elsewhere in the country as well as outside the US asked me what I thought, and I referred to him as an empty suit. I agree with everything you wrote— down to still being glad if he wins, because, well, here are where my standards are now— but side note, I have a hard time imagining him winning over Americans by 2028. I think if there’s going to be a Democrat that both unifies people on the left as well as moderates, it’s going to have to be someone that Americans see as a populist.
