Very disappointed. I had planned to vote for Swallwell-but no longer can in good conscience. After all, integrity is what seperates us from Republicans. Porter is a non starter for me and I'm not enamored of billionaires so Steyer isn't likely either. That leaves Mahon who appears to be the most viable alternative although I don't know much about him.

Mahon is the ONLY one with executive experience. I hope he rises to the top.

You had planned to vote for the guy who's taking AIPAC money? Gross. I say this with love, please do more fuckin research before planning to vote for people like that.

Jeff H's avatar

Sorry, but there are far more pressing issues than AIPAC money. Number one is standing up to that fat Nazi in the White House and Swallwell was prepared to do that. However, his judgement is clearly lacking and he lost my vote. Mahan will get it.

Unfortunately, we’re now left with a top 2 who’ve made it there by 1) being a billionaire and 2) having a huge re-election fund to draw from from her time as an extremely popular member of Congress before her ego led her to blow that up by running for Senate. I will have an extremely hard time voting for either of these 2.

You really want to argue that Katie Porter's EGO is a barrier when we have literal Nazis and Rapists running? LOL, what a misogynist prick. YOU are the kind of person who is the reason we're here. Absolute moron thinking those are even REMOTELY similar.

You are dumber than a bag of rocks and as a liberal, I can confidently say you are the type of whiny, perpetually aggrieved pains in the ass that give the state of California a bad name. Go away.

Welll CRAP!!! How disappointing if true. We'd better not end up with a Republican governor over this debacle!

Your essay was a pile of shit btw. Admitting you had no idea what occurred and evidence of nothing was an impressive start considering you’re an NYT best seller.

I have had a bad feeling about this race for a long time, driven largely by the insufferable egos of all of the candidates (that I know anything about). As far as I’m concerned, none of the top five (still including Swalwell) has any business getting this job. But will I tolerate Porter’s or Steyer’s shortcomings to avoid Chad Bianco strutting about Sacramento? Uh, yeah

After posting I saw this reel from a few days ago. If you believe her (and I do) there’s a lot more that hasn’t come out yet: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DW92RWhSKaK/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

How was this buried until now? Nonetheless, I believe it. I am voting for Matt Mahon, the mayor of San Jose who is very impressive.

maybe re-check the polling. Katie Porter is literally the only chance we have to avoid having 2 Republican governor options. Stop suggesting people vote for someone who is 1% or less in the polling. I prefer Thurmond myself; but that's just not reasonable at this point.

I’ve noticed that, for some Republicans, allegations of sexual misconduct seem to be treated almost like a badge of honor. That raises a fair question about timing. Are these allegations against Swalwell emerging now for a reason, particularly with an eye toward political damage?

At the same time, Democrats shouldn’t swing to the opposite extreme or dismiss allegations outright. But there’s a real concern that constantly yielding to unproven or strategically timed accusations reinforces a perception of weakness and fecklessness. Perhaps this is an opportunity for Eric to prove he is an Alpha to the voters.

So the question is: where’s the balance between holding people accountable and not allowing bad-faith attacks to dictate the narrative?

These are made up stories by Steve Bannon and Rogers Stone because Eric has a case against Donald Trump for January 6. Insurrection is still active. It’s real simple. They’re trying to discredit him and make their Humpty Dumpty pedophile look like a genius.

The timing by the GOP is perfect, isn’t it? Success all around. Well done republicans. Great game. They knew all it would take is an allegation. Barely a whimper for years about trumps behaviour, especially in 2016, but here we are. Sentencing by media. Not just any media either - Trump directed CNN.
