I was in Westchester on 9/11. I was in Manhattan the next day. The flyers everywhere, crossing Sixth Avenue *against the light* at five in the evening, the plume hanging halfway up the sky, the hush, the horror, the shock, and the smell. I'll never forget that smell.
There are a thousand things that should have disqualified Donald Trump from ever getting anywhere close to the position he's currently in, but bragging about the height of his building before the sun had even set on the destruction is exceptionally high on the list.
This makes me even sadder than I thought possible, that millions of people voted for this guy, despite all the provable lies. I'm fairly sure many of them were, if not outright happy (because this was an an attack on America, after all), almost glad that this tragedy happened in New York, home of elitist liberals, even though hundreds of the people who lost their lives were no doubt middle and lower on the social-economic scale.
Unfortunately, none of those in the MAGAverse will read or listen to anything negative about their beloved leader -- despite verifiable evidence -- who is just as racist, self-centered, and yes, stupid, as they are.
I worked downtown. Was at work that morning. The smell lingered for what felt like months in my West Village neighborhood. The fliers everywhere. I HATE that day.
And, his story today of being in the rubble is just so so so awful. Brazen liar with not one dot of empathy. I was on the red eye out of National (refuse the rename) on the night of 9/10 setting my 18 y/o college student into a new apartment--the dorm at Howard had been over booked. She was at Pentagon City Nordstrom reporting for work when it hit the fan.. She went home alone through occupied D.C. to her basement apartment near Convention Center. It took years for her to recognize and treat the PTSD.
Truth. Seems so simple. Yet we have experienced a decade at best, of a pathological narcissistic liar leading a nation! Around on a perverse leash of moral rot. Appreciate the truth you post Jeff, don’t stop. As for the rest of us? We are here now, and without the hard work of demanding we are honest about who is at the helm…… we will live in this muck of criminal syndicated activity and just shrug our shoulders again.

I was so horrified that I became an ostrich and didn't want to know more about the horror except to catch the guys who did this. Your cogent story of how Trump reacted is a new horror to me and probably many others. He always acted/acts like he is the center of everything. I just tuned him out at the time. Trump was/has always been a joke except to the MAGAts who believe his lies. Jeff, you are so right to review his actions for us. If only the MAGAts could wrap their teeny little minds around this evil monster.

I've never thought of 9/11 without shedding a tear....................the same feeling I get when I think of January 6th
