Amy Stevens doesn't sleep.
The ubiquitous OC political fireplug is everywhere. At all hours. Why? Because she loves America.
I ran into Amy Stevens this weekend. It was in Anaheim, at a lightly attended Prop 50 canvassing event/rally. There was a tent, some CA-40 congressional candidates, a dog named Liberty, a pile of stickers and …
Amy Stevens.
As I approached the location in my car, I didn’t think about Amy being there, which was silly—because Amy is always there. Everywhere. If there’s a political event in Orange County, a rally in Orange County, an opportunity to help the Democrats in Orange County a Kid Rock show in Orange County, you will most certainly encounter Amy—usually with her son, oftentimes sporting a Gilligan cap and a random HERE’S WHY VOTING IS IMPORTANT T-shirt.
I can’t overstate the point: For this website, I oftentimes hit up random events when time permits. It always goes like this:
A. I park.
B. I arrive at the rally/gathering.
C. I see Amy.
D. I say, “Hey, Amy.”
E. She says, “Hey, Jeff.”
Amy is dogged and determined; a volunteer organizer for Indivisible CA40 and the coordinator of the OC Indivisible Coalition. She does this because this shit matters to her. Freedom. Democracy. Somehow surviving this nightmare. She throws everything into it. Through depressing moments. Through cruel encounters. Through tears. Through exhaustion. Through it all.
We talked about it all here. Truly, Amy is the best …
A force of nature!
