A Truth OC reminder
From Jeff Pearlman
So this morning’s post about the CA-40 race has generated a lot of heat, a decent amount of anger, a few insults, a bunch of, “You’ve really disappointed me …”
And in these crazed times, when we’re all a bit uptight and anxious, I’d like to remind folks of something: I did not take on this project for the fun of it.
Nope. I started this website because so few entities cover the intricacies of Orange County politics. The Los Angeles Times barely enters the fray. Hell, the OC Register barely enters the fray. OC Weekly is dead, Voice of OC does very solid work, but is limited in analysis. Vern at the Orange Juice Blog busts ass, we just have different voices. The Vitamin OC podcast is wonderful.
I do this, 100 percent, to raise awareness, to point out injustices, to break down (as best I can) what’s going on. And, for the most part, it’s been a good experience. I’ve made plenty of friends, have received an ongoing education in local politics, etc.
But I just wanna remind people: I have no dogs in these fights. I don’t care who wins, as long as it’s good for America and the ideals I believe in (which are 99 percent liberal). For example, I like Lisa Ramirez. A lot. I wish she could win. But I don’t see it. So I feel compelled to be honest and real about it. I’m not gonna write stuff just to make us all feel good, while ignoring the shitty realities of the political landscape. Lord knows, I’d receive more smiling emojis if I just went happy and sunny. But it’s not reality. So, hey.
I appreciate everyone who reads. I don’t actually remind the debate, the arguments, the frustration. I get it.
But, eh, just remember: I’m a sports writer who runs a political site in his free time. I don’t know everything; I’m flawed; I try my best.
That’s all.
Thanks for reading.

I appreciate you Jeff just keeping it real. Thank you.
I appreciate you and your column, even though I don’t always agree with you. I absolutely agree with you about Dem. Kim. The same argument is being used for the governor’s race. Love Katie Porter? Great. But don’t throw away your vote and give the governor’s office to a lunatic Republican. Party matters, especially now.
