A man who maced a Capitol Police officer is speaking in Laguna Woods in two days
And Pat Micone, the president of the Republican Club of Laguna Woods, doesn't seem bothered by it.
So I wrote about this in one of my first Truth OC posts, but that was then and this is now and I remain as horrified as ever.
In two days, the Republican Club of Laguna Woods will hold a meeting with a guest speaker named Jeffrey Scott Brown. And if you don’t pay attention to these things, Brown is one of the people who not only attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but stole a canister of mace and used it upon an officer.
Here’s the photo, literally, of his arm …
Until Donald Trump pardoned his attackers, Brown was behind bars. But now he is free and merry and coming to Laguna Woods to speak to folks like Pat Micone, the president of the Republican Club of Laguna Woods, who (on her Facebook page) unironically urges friends to BACK THE BLUE.
I sent Pat an e-mail last week, asking whether I could attend. To be honest, I, cough, lied about my identity and politics, because I figured it’d be the only way she’d let me attend.
She responded thusly …
I ultimately sent her this …
I never heard back.
And here’s the thing: I’m guessing Pat isn’t a uniquely mean or cruel person. I’m guessing she’s a one-time Reagan-voting senior citizen who has been fooled into thinking macing an officer is OK, or it didn’t really happen, or the press is lying, or it’s all because “we” hate Trump. It’s a cult. Literally, this is cult-like behavior. They’re after us. They hate us. It’s creepy stuff, and simultaneously sad. Not all that long ago Republicans would have joined Democrats in condemning a slime-ball like Jeffrey Scott Brown. It wouldn’t even be an issue. Alas, times have changed.
But, come day’s end, the Republican Club of Laguna Woods is hosting a man who maced a police officer.
That’s their choice to live with.
PS:
What a complete joke and at the same time not surprising at all. At least she acknowledges this isn't a "normal meeting."
This reprehensible but not surprising, especially given the age of the members. When i was in Oklahoma I'd post a lot that a great deal of society ills will be fixed once all the old white people died off.
I felt it was OK to say that because (A.) it's the truth, and (B.) I myself am a old'ish white person. I'm just not one of the dumb ones.
